Jazz  Musician

29 April at the Grand Hall of State Conservatory of Uzbekistan  the concert by Arun Ghosh, leading UK Jazz musician, and students of the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan is going on as part of the Fifth International Jazz Festival Uzbekistan, organised by UNESCO. Arun Ghosh is a British-Asian clarinettist, composer and music educator.  

Twice awarded 'Jazz Instrumentalist of the Year' at the Parliamentary Jazz Awards (2014 and 2018) , he is a renowned innovator of the modern IndoJazz style. 

Arun has released four albums: Northern Namaste, Primal Odyssey, A South Asian Suite, and his latest, but where are you really from? . Over the last ten years, he has become a leading light on UK and international jazz scenes, captivating audiences and critics with his passionate and dynamic performance style, eloquent musical expression and rock 'n' roll spirit. 

Born in London to Indian parents, Arun grew up in the North of England. Obsessed by music as a child, he started playing jazz and the clarinet after seeing saxophonist Courtney Pine performing on television. Arun's devotion to music continues to this day, and his sound and style encompasses a huge span of music; he plays the music he loves, with rock, classical, folk, hip-hop and music from across the world all brought together, alongside jazz and the sounds of the Indian Subcontinent.  

As well as performing with his band, Ghosh is a respected theatre composer, regularly composing scores for UK theatre productions, dance pieces and silent film.

Arun is thankful to have taken his music all over the world, collaborating with thousands of musicians of all ages and musical backgrounds in the process. He has led numerous residencies with with the British Council, including projects in India, Ukraine, Kuwait, UAE, Morocco, Dubai, Kenya and China, where he was Musician in Residence of the city of Wuhan in 2014. Arun considers it a great honour to have been invited to both perform and collaborate in Uzbekistan, a tremendous opportunity to present his music to audiences and musicians in the country.
