Role overview

The post holder will be part of a wider team of Examinations personnel, contracted to deliver IELTS Speaking tests on behalf of the British Council across various locations in the country. 

Examiners will support the Examinations team in the delivery of IELTS exams in line with examinations quality standards and in order to meet the Examinations Strategy while meeting standards for excellent customer service. 

Requirements:

  • An undergraduate or Master’s degree or a qualification which can be demonstrated to be equivalent to an undergraduate or Master’s degree.
  • A recognised qualification in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) or recognised equivalent as part of a recognised university award course.
  • At least 3 years’ full time (or the equivalent part time) relevant TESOL teaching experience (minimum one year post-certificate level qualification). The majority of this teaching experience must relate to adult students (16 years and over).
  • The required professional attributes and interpersonal skills.
  • Available for speaking interviews from Monday to Saturday, some or all days of the week, full day with occasional travels to regions.
  • Possess the work permit in Uzbekistan
  • In order to examine effectively, speaking test Examiners must be expert users, i.e. be the equivalent of an IELTS Band 9 in the Speaking test. Applicants may be required to submit a valid IELTS certificate with the overall Speaking band score of 9.0

Recruitment process: 

The assessment of professional attributes and interpersonal skills of examiner applicants occurs at three stages in the recruitment process: application form, interview, and training. All examiners must have the qualifications and experience outlined above.

Interviews:

Applications will be shortlisted. Successful applicants will be invited to an interview.

Training:

Applicants who have been selected, go through training which is carried out by an Examiner Trainer and lasts four days

Certification:

Applicants then complete a certification set to demonstrate that they can apply the assessment criteria accurately and reliably. If successful, they become certificated as examiners.
