Cancelling your IELTS test

If you need to cancel your IELTS test more than 5 weeks before the test date, you will receive a refund minus an administration fee of 25% of the test fee.

Please note that refunds can take four to six weeks to process.

To cancel your test date, please download, complete and submit us these documents:

If you would like to request your refund to be paid into a third person’s payment card, you need to add the following documents to the package:

  • A copy of the identity card or passport of the holder of the Uzcard / HUMO payment card.

Candidates who seek to cancel their registration or transfer test dates within the five-week period prior to the test date will only receive a refund if their ability to sit the test has been affected by illness or serious cause. 
In this case please add this document to the package:

  • Supporting documents for refund (medical certificate or official confirmation for serious cause issued by delegated authorities)

A list of serious causes includes:

  • Illness – e.g. hospital admission, serious injury or illness (does not include minor illness such as a mild cold)
  • Loss or bereavement – death of a close family member
  • Hardship/trauma – victim of crime, victim of a traffic accident
  • Military service

In case of medical reasons, the original medical certificate in local language or English are accepted, we do not accept sick notes issued by family members. The medical certificate must include nature of illness and other relevant information (with reference to the candidate’s capacity to sit an exam) which will assist in any assessment of this application for special consideration. For other reasons, please attach relevant documentation/evidence (police report, military service notice, death notice).

If the medical certificate or supporting evidence is provided within five working days of the test date, together with the Request for Refund or Test Date Transfer Form, the fee is refundable, minus an administration fee of 25% of the test fee. If we have not received all the required documents by the fifth working day after the test, you will be marked as absent and forfeit all claims.

Requesting a test day transfer

If you need to change the date of your test from the date you originally booked, you can request a test day transfer up to five weeks before the test date, free of charge.  Please note that the new test date must be within three months of the initial test date. There may be limited availability for test dates in the first five-week period. Candidates who wish to transfer to a test date more than three months away should apply for a refund and then re-apply for the test.
